Month-End Bank Reconciliation Memo
Turns bank and ledger balances plus unmatched items into a two-sided reconciliation, book-side entries only, and an evidence list for review.
Ready-to-install Claude Skills for accountants: what each does, how it was tested and how to install it.
The Month-End Bank Reconciliation Memo is for staff accountants and bookkeepers. You paste the bank statement ending balance, the general-ledger cash balance, and every unmatched item. The skill produces a two-sided reconciliation, book-side entries only, and an evidence list for review, assembled into a memo for the client file.
For Claude Code, download the ZIP, unpack it into ~/.claude/skills/ (or .claude/skills/ inside your project), and restart Claude Code. The skill loads when your request matches its description. Without a terminal, open a Claude Project, go to Project instructions, paste the SKILL.md text, and save. Every chat in that project follows it.
The listed tests used Claude Opus 5.5 and Claude Sonnet 5 on 2026-10-19, and Claude Fable 5.1 on 2026-10-20. Each model ran the skill 3 times on a fictional input written with its rubric before the skill existed. A model from another family, gpt-6-astra, graded every run. See the methodology for the testing approach.
This skill is US-first. Client tax-return information is protected: check IRC §7216 consent rules before pasting tax-return data into any AI tool. The IRS Office of Professional Responsibility also published introductory guidelines for responsible AI use in federal tax practice, Issue 2026-19. UK and Australian practitioners should check their own rules before using the skill. The output is a draft for the responsible accountant to check; the accountant, not the model, signs the reconciliation.

For prompts rather than an installed skill, see our prompt library for accountants. The Accountants page is the profession hub; this page lists the skills, with their summaries, tested dates, versions, and install buttons. Use the memo’s evidence list as part of your review of the reconciliation, keeping the distinction between the model’s draft and the accountant’s signed work.
